Traditional Styling
Traditional style is usually formal and well balanced with the use of rich fabrics. Period furniture such as Chippendale and Queen Anne in dark stained wood tones with some carving details. Leather sofas, antiques and vases finish out the rooms. Burgundies, blues and greens generally rule the day. Fabrics with florals and stripes are prevalent. Even with the formal look it can appear to be warm and inviting if done right. Fabrics usually are not overly textured or shiny, they just kind of blend in. Walls can be either painted or wallpapered or both while trim is usually painted white with a glossy finish. Trim is usually more decorative than in say a Country setting. It usually has a profile and is used as crown molding, chair rail, base and casings.
